Dive Trip, October 20th-21st, Mombasa/Bamburi

A quick update on the forthcoming dive trip on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October.

People are to make their own way there. To dive on both days means arriving Friday and returning Monday. Bamburi is easy to get to from Mombasa Airport.

Plan is to dive out of Bamburi with Peponi Divers (their base is at Bahari Beach). The conditions are not great at the moment which jeopardizes the chances of diving at Vuma Caves but we’ll keep an eye on conditions and we’ll do the best diving we can subject to the conditions. For those that haven’t dived at Vuma it’s a super dive right up against coral cliffs with a number of cave openings and interesting features…including blow-holes that you can ascend/descend through. The depth (approx 20m max) and the sheltered nature of the site provide a great opportunity to see some very large wrasse and other seriously ugly fish. Not to be missed if conditions permit.

Adrian will arrange the diving for Saturday and Sunday. Anyone getting there earlier or leaving later might want to dive on Friday/Monday which is fine and they can arrange this directly with Peponi Divers. Other arrangements such as travel and accommodation are to be booked direct by individuals.
If we dive at Vuma there will be an additional charge of KShs 1,800 per person fuel charge. It takes around 75 minutes to get to Vuma but we can break up the return journey with some great diving at The Pinnacles.

As for accommodation Adrian is still trying to identify something reasonably priced. It is better if everyone stays in the same place but not essential. Adrian will provide an update on this in the next day or so and then people can make their own bookings at the selected place or their own choice. Adrian recommends that you book/reserve flights ASAP.

Please confirm whether or not you are interested ASAP.
